Food Bank awareness_editedSuccess: more than 500 cans collected!

Communities In Schools of Mid-America at Southwest Kansas student Logen Black saw a need and she took action to help fulfill that need. Through her Friends of Rachel (FOR) Club at Ashland Junior & Senior High School, Logen was involved in the project for December – a canned food drive. The only problem: there is no local food bank in the Ashland community.

IMG_3192_editedCommunities In Schools Site Coordinator Haley Walker said Logen took it upon herself to increase awareness about the pantry, located about 15 miles away, in the next town. She picked up her flyers and began posting information about the pantry across the Ashland community.

“I feel good about helping others this holiday season and I am very proud to contribute to the food drive as well as raise  awareness about the food bank,” Logen said.

Logen is not new to a little recognition here at CIS. Most recently, she was chosen to be featured in the CIS National Blog Series and also featured as an ambassador for Glamour Magazine’s “The Girl Project.”
