Resource Development VISTA

VISTA members have the unique opportunity to learn the inner-workings of a national, non-profit organization. Members get real-world experience, gaining skills involved with non-profit management.

The Resource Development VISTA member would be responsible for developing systems for grant and donor management, fundraising development, and communications in order to expand quality services to students within the CIS of Mid-America network. The goals of the position are to expand financial resources; evaluate current practices in fundraising and donor relations; develop new systems to cultivate, engage, and recognize donors; and to support in efforts of communicating the organization’s needs, goals, and purpose through written and digital media. Activities would include: grant writing, monitoring donor management system, research and development (donor recognition, fundraising enhancement, etc.), researching funding opportunities, assisting in donor recognition, developing promotional materials, managing social media accounts, and assisting with the network-wide podcast. The member would serve from the main office in Lawrence, KS and would work with the entire CIS of Mid-America network.   There will be some travel involved; members will be compensated.

Overview of VISTA role with CIS of Mid-America:

The AmeriCorps VISTA members at CIS of Mid-America will have many opportunities to gain skills involved with non-profit management and the needs of at-risk youth. Members will support program research and development that will directly benefit the students that the organization serves. Members will help tell the organization’s story through data evaluation and community engagement, make programs thrive through research and volunteer recruitment and management, and find ways to make the organization fiscally sound through grant research and supporting donor relations. Members look to gain valuable knowledge and experience in non-profit management.
