Chanute Executive Director joins Communities In Schools of Mid-America’s Board of Directors

Chanute, KS – Matthew Godinez of Chanute, KS has recently been appointed to serve on the Board of Directors for Communities In Schools (CIS) of Mid-America. CIS of Mid-America empowers students to stay in school and on a path to graduation.

“We could not do all that we do without the support of schools and districts, volunteers, donors, community partners, and of course, our board,” said Malissa Martin, President and CEO of CIS of Mid-America.

Godinez is the Executive Director of the Chanute Regional Development Authority (CRDA) and the Southeast Kansas Regional Planning Commission since 2015. Previously, he was Vice President of Sales for Perimeter Global Logistics and served as an executive in the Supply Chain and Logistics industry since 2004. Godinez is a native of Chanute, KS and attended Neosho County Community College before transferring to Emporia State University. From 2002 to 2015, he lived in the Lawrence and Kansas City area and returned home to Chanute in 2015. Since joining the CRDA, he has been named one of the Top 50 Economic Developers in North America in 2018, Top 40 under 40 in Economic Development in 2019, and most recently completed Leadership Kansas in 2019. Godinez serves on various state and regional non-profit boards. He enjoys traveling, golf, and fishing with his two children.
