25 Drive: Communities In Schools of Mid-America Hosts School Supply Drives in Celebration of 25th Anniversary

WATERLOO, IA – Communities In Schools (CIS) of Mid-America is celebrating its 25th year helping students overcome their barriers and reach their goals by hosting a 25 Drive event March 27 at Central Middle School. As part of its continued support to students, families, and schools, 25 Drive is a series of school supply drives taking place across our multi-state network.

“The focus of 25 Drive is to resupply high demand items needed in schools – useful items for students’ safety, preparedness, and encouragement because this has been a challenging school year for students, families and teachers,” said Jessica Peña, CIS of Mid-America Development & Events Manager. “We know supplies in some areas are already low.”

Priority items for this drive are: fleece jackets (no hoods), crew neck sweatshirts in solid colors, socks, other clothing items, headphones, water bottles, and disinfectant wipes. Items donated will benefit students at Central Middle School and George Washington Carver Academy. Safe distancing and CDC guidelines will be followed at this event as participants will remain in their vehicles and drop off items in a drive-through manner.

This event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to noon, Saturday, March 27, at Central Middle School (1350 Katoski Drive – Waterloo, IA).

The Kansas Volunteer Commission is helping make this event possible with a mini-grant to provide proper safety measures and materials for volunteers and donors. If you cannot attend an in-person event, please contact Jessica.Pena@cismidamerica.org for ways to donate items online.
