Shianna joined Communities in Schools in July of 2017, and is a one of the first Site Coordinators to implement the CIS model in Kansas City Public Schools. She is a proud Kansas City, Missouri native and has built valuable relationships with a variety of professional community members. Shianna studied English at the University of Central Missouri, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree, in 2013. With the support of her loved ones, she proceeded to earn her Master of Arts in Teaching Secondary English. She brings a variety of applicable experience, including her professional practice as an Investigative Children’s Service Worker at the Jackson County Children’s Division, work as a Specialist while at the Missouri Division of Youth Services - MO DSS, and experience in the classroom through student teaching at Raytown High School. Shianna’s most recent role, in the Behavioral Interventionist Program at FosterAdopt Connect, supports children and families to help decrease family separation and placement disruption. Shianna loves to laugh and enjoys attending comedy shows, as well as leisure writing and reading. She also takes interest in exploring and creating DIY activities and projects.
