El Dorado, KS – Communities In Schools of Mid-America is pleased to announce it has received a $7,500 grant from the City of El Dorado. The funds will be used to support the Communities In Schools program located at El Dorado Middle School.
Communities In Schools of Mid-America focuses its work in schools and beyond, connecting at-risk students with community resources – such as food, clothing, school supplies and medical care – to help remove barriers to their academic success.
“Kids can come to school with great teachers, but if they are poorly clothed or have a bad family situation, they are not receptive to learning that day. Children have to be treated holistically to solve these issues,” stated CIS National Board Chair Elaine Wynn.
