Carissa* and Conner* had been enrolled in CIS since they started elementary school. Before the 2020-21 school year began, their family moved, and the siblings had to transfer to a new school. Thankfully, their new school was also a CIS Site, so they could continue receiving support. The Student Support Coordinator (SSC) at their previous school met with the SSC at their new school to share information about the family, their needs, and the types of support they had received. The previous SSC worked very closely with Carissa and Conner’s mother. During their first parent check-in, the mother told the SSC how worried she was to move because they relied so much on CIS at their previous school. She was so relieved when she learned they could continue services. The SSC worked closely with the family throughout the school year to ensure the siblings adjusted well to their new school and the family was connected to services in their new town. Despite the turbulent school year, Carissa and Conner thrived last year, and they both met their academic goals.
