All In for Kids means All In for Fun!

Communities In Schools of Mid-America is deeply committed to the important work we do. While it can be challenging work at times, especially when we witness the struggles faced by the students and families we serve, we approach our tasks with unwavering dedication. Whether it’s providing essential items like food and clothing to students in need, offering mentorship opportunities, tutoring, or implementing comprehensive school-wide programs like our FutureNow: Finance program, we carry out our mission with passion and purpose. And despite the obstacles, we make sure to infuse a lot of fun into our work as well!

Psychologists emphasize the vital role of “fun” in the lives of young people, recognizing its significance for their development and overall well-being. Fun experiences not only foster social and cognitive development but also inspire physical health, provide stress relief, encourage self-expression, and facilitate personal growth. At CIS of Mid-America, we prioritize ensuring that the students we serve have the opportunities to reach their goals by combining focused study and hard work with enjoyable and enriching experiences.

However, it’s not just the students on our caseload who benefit from these fun moments. Our dedicated staff members are also eager to participate. Take, for instance, the contributions of our AmeriCorps VISTA staff members, who play a crucial role in supporting our organization. VISTA is a national anti-poverty service program, and we are fortunate to have talented individuals like Noelle Haselhuhn, our current Communications Manager, who began her journey with us as a VISTA member. Noelle fondly recalls an instance during her VISTA experience when it became evident that several members had never had the pleasure of enjoying an ice cream cake. Sophie Archuleta, Director of Special Programs, who closely collaborates with the VISTA members, promptly arranged for an ice cream cake celebration to rectify this incredible oversight!

At CIS of Mid-America, we believe that incorporating fun into our work not only enhances our effectiveness but also creates an atmosphere of joy and fulfillment. By acknowledging the importance of fun and actively and incorporating it into our endeavors, we strive to provide the best possible support and experiences for the students we serve while fostering a positive and enjoyable working environment for our staff.

Communities In Schools of Mid-America is steadfast in our commitment to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students and families. Despite the challenges, we approach our work with dedication, passion, and purpose. And we have fun while doing it! We invite you to join us as we continue to make an impact in the lives of the people we serve. Together, we are building promising futures for our communities; futures filled with opportunity, success, and fun for all.
